Warner Brorthers has released the Official Announcement of Smallville - The Complete 8th Season DVD due to be on stores on August 25th. The front cover fetuares, as it was reported earlier this year Tom Weeling and Erica Durance.

Extras coan be found such as: "Smallville’s Doomsday: The Making of a Monster" and "In the Director’s Chair: Behind the Lens and Calling the Shots with Allison Mack"

Since mid-April, the folks at Amazon have been taking DVD and high-def Blu-ray Disc pre-orders for Warner's Smallville - The Complete 8th Season...even though the studio hadn't formally scheduled these product yet, and no release date was available. This morning, however, Warner Home Video has officially announced these sets, with an August 25th release date finally revealed.

The DVD edition comes on 6 discs for $59.98 SRP. Video is widescreen, audio in English Dolby Surround 5.1 with an option for Portuguese Stereo, and subtitles in Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese and Thai. The Blu-ray edition comes on 4 "BD-50" discs for $79.98 SRP. High-def 1080p widescreen video are accompanied by English Dolby Surround 5.1 audio; no other language options have been mentioned at this time for the BD version.

Both have a running time of 1012 minutes, and also include the following Bonus Material: Cast/Creator Commentaries, Unaired Scenes, Featurette: "Smallville’s Doomsday: The Making of a Monster" and Featurette: "In the Director’s Chair: Behind the Lens and Calling the Shots with Allison Mack". The studio has also provided the finalized 3D package art pictures seen below:

Thanks gottara for the information about Dvd set season 8th. Every year that passes it leaves earlier for sale the Dvd set. That´s fabulous. I can´t wait for get it. I hope that this Dvd set can have a lot of information or things about Clark Kent - Tom Welling in the extra material. And I´d really like that this Dvd set to have bloopers.

Thanks for posting this. A Doomsday featurette was expected. I'm wonderring who will do the commentaries and how many we will get. I think at least two commentaries.

I'm looking forward to the featurette of Allison being a director.

I only wished we would get also a blooper featurette again besides the 'normal' featurettes. But it doesn't seems to happen, unfortunately.

Actually it's about two weeks earlier compared to last season which means season nine will start sometime between mid/end September.

Did they say 3D package art in the description? That doesn't mean it's gonna be one of those 3D covers that change as you move it, does it? Like at one angle it'll be Lois and Clark at the DP and at another angle it'll show the face of Doomsday. I would rather it try to stick to the design of seasons past and not have a 3D cover.

No, it won't. It will a normal DVD cover like evey year. The sentence with the '3D package art pictures' phrase means that you see a 3D Cover in the second post because you see front and side cover. Normally you just get the front cover.

I like the back cover especially with the headline 'Who is th Red-Blue Blur' and the Cless rescue picture. :D I think it makes more sense to structure Jimmy's sentence grammaticaly in the past tense but I'm not an expert. :p Either way, you could interpret it as a spoiler which is the case.
I also like the pictures they used for the discs.

I hope we can get the real promo stills of that, too.
