But was confuses me is that that person chose to ask the S8 credits..... If I would wanted to know a SV vet "vet" I would have chosen another season ...... Now that opens the door to Oliver, Mercy and Davis.

Is not Lois (read the Souders answers) its not Oliver.

Clark CAN'T die permanetly.

That leaves Jimmy and Chloe.

That means that all of the guest-stars like Black Canary, Impulse, and Cosmic Boy will survive.

Whoever dies will not return to Smallville ever, so this rules out Clark. The only option is definitely Chloe. However, I can see Jimmy and Tess to be the ones to leave.

I could see Jimmy leaving....although I doubt it highly. But Jimmy is not dying nor Tess since she is not a vet.

Tess may not be a veteran and may not be dying, but I can see her leave because she knows too much about Clark. CF actually revealed in an interview that she's not contracted for the 9th season.

That was my point that Tess is nit dying just probably leaving

It's clear that the statuses of Chloe, Davis, and Tess are up in the air depending on the season finale.

Thanks for posting this. So, the veteran who will die won't be someone like Martha, Lana, Pete or somebody else who isn't a series regular this season. It narrows to a few people and actually only to one person. We will see what will happen in one month.

Agreed. Besides, they wouldn't kill off Lana, Pete, and Martha anyway because they're mythos characters as well.

The only canon prior in which she has actually died before Clark was Superman was the Silver Age. Beyond that in the other canons, she's alive and well. Unless one counts Superman 4.

She's also a prominent figure in Superman canon as the one, who has for the biggest part been responsible for Clark's costume as Superman in just about all of the Superman canons exception of the Superman movie.

A couple of issues instantly come up with this:

1) Annette O' Toole has expressed no desire to come back into the fold thus far since she left the show. She's been working expressly on and off Brodway with her busband, who plays Perry White in SV canon.

2) Martha is also a DC Comics canon character, that falls under the watchful eye and restrictions of DC Comics and Warner Bros. is likely handled with extreme care, due to her influence on the Superman mythos. If and when they feel the need to bring her into the story again, it'll be a deciding factor on Clark becoming Superman. The discretion falls to DC and Warner Bros. on this one.

For now, the spoiler above renders the idea of anyone, not in the current cast as safe. So Martha, Lana or Pete are not possibilities at this point.

Furthermore, Lana and Pete are also characters that continually pop up in the future of Superman mythology. Kristin has expressed no desire to return after her most recent stint on SV and Annette has shown no desire to come back since she left a few seasons ago. She's been continually working on and off Broadway with her husband, the show's Perry White.

They've been really hush hush about the spoilers, like giving clues that could really mean another thing (I.E - The *er**n d***g ** n** C***e.). So maybe the person is in the opening credits, but just for a split second when they're showing clips of the show? and not actually credited?
