Either the boys could be falling into Purgatory, or Purgatory has just been unleashed all over the world and with it, changing landscape, new foe, monsters they've never even dreamed of? I think it'd be really cool though in a way if they
did fall into Purgatory. That'd be something entirely new. I just love it that says they're only going to have each other. Heeee.
